We are pleased to share that planning has been submitted for our accessible holiday home project in Highcliffe, Dorset.
First announced last year, this will be our first dedicated accessible and disability-adapted holiday home designed to support inclusive coastal breaks for families and groups.
With few comparable holiday rentals available in the UK, the project addresses a clear gap in accessible tourism provision.
Inclusive Holiday Home Design
The scheme will transform an existing two-bedroom bungalow into an accessible and inclusive 4-bedroom holiday home.
The ground floor will be reconfigured to provide step-free access throughout. Well-thought out living spaces will support comfort, dignity and ease of movement. A dormer extension will be added at first-floor level, providing additional bedrooms and a bathroom.
Accessibility has shaped every design decision from the outset. The ground floor will be fully wheelchair accessible. It will include widened doorways and clear circulation routes, as well as built-in ceiling hoist track system. The layout will support safe transfers and independent use.
The accessible bedroom will connect directly to a wet room with specialist fittings.
Wheelchair Accessible Outdoor Spaces
All external areas will be designed for inclusive use. Landscaped gardens and pathways will be fully accessible and step-free routes will link the house and outdoor spaces. Dedicated parking will be provided for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV).
Garden views will be available from both levels of the home. These views will support a calm and welcoming environment.
Well-located Accessible Holiday Home in Dorset
The holiday home is located in Highcliffe, just outside of Christchurch on the Dorset coast.
Well situated, the property is just ten minutes from the beach, and also close to the New Forest.
So, guests will have convenient access to coastal and countryside attraction, as well as local amenities.
Further information on local accessible attractions will be shared as the project progresses.
Built for Comfort, Sustainability and Long-Term Use
As with all Freedom Living Solutions projects, quality and usability are central priorities.
The holiday home will be designed for long-term accessibility. Sustainability and comfort will guide material and system choices. Our aim is to create a place where everyone feels welcome, supported and able to relax.
