Project Description

An existing bungalow was remodeled and sympathetically extended to create a bespoke-designed disability home conversion suitable for the entire family. External works include outbuildings containing a therapy room and hydrotherapy pool.

This fully accessible adapted family home was custom designed to cater to the needs of a child with physical disabilities who will require ongoing support.

Meeting the Design Brief
As this project would be a long term living solution, a primary consideration was assessing the child’s existing requirements, as well as any changing needs going forward into adulthood. Consultation with the child’s healthcare providers was a key part of the initial design phase.

The family wanted a home that was modern and comfortable, with accessible areas that everyone could enjoy. Any specially adapted areas were designed to be equally appealing and maintain a stylish flow throughout the property.

The main building has been completely modernised throughout. The downstairs area features a large, fully accessible kitchen, living and dining space.

The wildlife-friendly accessible gardens are landscaped with meandering pathways, providing a visually stimulating journey around all outdoor areas.
